Preface to explain the background of the works of TANAKA Shinpei

HAYASHI Tomoki@@@

The logical language succeeds in joining hearts of so many people together. The very language enabled us to create this splendid world as it is. The more intricately the world has evolved, the more intricately the language has evolved; new vocabulary, new grammar, and new expressions. Now we can convey our intentions much more minutely in comparison with the human beings 100 years ago.
The language is a very convenient tool to convey intentions. Besides, there are other ways such as gestures, facial expressions, violence, commercial products, and works of art. The language surpasses other means in vagueness and in the complexity of the contents which we can explain by it. To tell the difficult point, it is that we need a lot of effort on mutual understanding between the human beings who have different language as a mother tongue.
However, the language is not almighty. The vocabulary is limited, and the form of the logic is limited, too. Most of all, we don't have enough ability to command the language that has high-leveled and complicated possibilities perfectly. There are so many scenes where we can convey our intentions to others more precisely by using some other ways except the language. Therefore, I write poetry by the language that is not logical and make an effort to convey my thoughts to others.
Although I hope to tell you much more complicated ideas much more precisely and much more certainly. That is a contradictory demand. I can tell you my ideas more precisely and certainly if only it is not complicated. Certainty deteriorates if I make much of precision, and precision deteriorates if I make much of certainty. However, if I train my skill of expression, @
In this way, to convey one's intentions(heart/feelings/thoughts/ideas) is a cooperation work of a writer and a reader. When we convey complicated and high-leveled contents, high abilities of both sides are demanded. Moreover, when we convey our intentions in the form that is not logic, as works of art, particularly high abilities are needed.
When we convey our intentions in an illogical form, a common basis of knowledge and culture is needed between both sides in addition to the high ability for reading and understanding. In my opinion, works of art should be beautiful except as a tool for conveying our ideas. In order to realize beauty, we have to omit some contents to be conveyed, therefore, we cannot help depending on the common basis for the omitted part.
This is the exhibition in the United States, so the basis of the culture and the knowledge between the author and the people of appreciation is so limited than the domestic exhibition. Therefore we would like to explain about the omitted contents in the logic of sentences while knowing that I am tactless.
